Friction and Wear Properties of As-cast and Aged Cu-15Ni-8Sn Alloy

  • Homogenization annealing treatment and solid solution heat treatment were carried out for as-cast Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloy,and then aging heat treatment at 400 ℃ for 1-10 h was adopted.The friction and wear properties of the alloy in as-cast state and aging state were studied under oil-lubricated conditions by means of ball-on-disc wear tester.Results indicate that aging time had little effects on friction coefficient of Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloy,the alloy obtained a relative low wear rate when the aging time was 2-8 h and the wear rate slightly increased when the aging time was over 8 h.The friction coefficient of the aged alloy was 10% less than that of as-cast alloy,the minimum wear rate of aged alloy was about 43% of that of as-cast alloy.The cause of the friction and wear properties of aged alloy exceeding that of as-cast alloy was the aged alloy owing the higher hardness.
